DATE: Monday MARCH 21st
TIME: 11:48am MST
LOCATION: lafayette co
Hey look at me! Two in a row. Yes they are posting on the same day, but I wrote the other one yesterday lol
So yesterday was an absolute treat. We got up around 10ish, I wrote my blog then we got on the road around noon to travel north to the Rocky Mountains. The drive there was amazing, just such beautiful sights. We first stopped in a small town called Lyon and got some breakfast at a local cafe. I had a bagel which was pretty good. After breakfast we started to get into the mountains proper. Even though I have been here before the land felt completely different in the spring. All of the mountains were snowcapped and it didn’t look like the same arid terrain I remembered. Our first stop was the Beaver Meadow Visitor’s Center to get our passports stamped. Also got some gifts and a few other things. We then headed out for our hike.
When we arrived at the trail, our planned route was actually closed so we ended up taking a different trail nearby. It was a much higher elevation trail than we had planned for so it was tough going. Even the first 40ft were pretty rough with how thin the air is. We decided rather quickly that we wouldn’t be doing the full climb and essentially just went as far as we could. I think this place can mostly speak for it self through the photos below, but I just have to say it might be the coolest place I have ever been. Towards the top of where we went we found this beautiful secluded vista and took lots of pictures there. You could see most of the town of Estes and surrounding mountains. Such an amazing view.
After our walk down, we went into the town of Estes and explored for a while. We walked down the main street and visited a bunch of the stores there. I got a multitool and another jacket which Im pretty excited about. We finished up our time in Estes with some pizza from a local place, which so far, was the best pizza I have had on the trip. All in all, a 10/10 experience. This was the first place outside of cities that I could actually see myself living in. It reminded me a lot of Manchester VT with the imposing mountains all around. And I looked it up and there is fiber running in the area. Good network speed :D. I dont know if I would consider it to be higher in the list than Manchester, but it is certainly up there in places I would love to live.
Today we are still in Colorado, but will be exploring the local area of Boulder today. Im excited to see what the town has in store for us.
Thats all for now, stay safe
Signing off
