Day 69 > 71 - Jeremu
DATE: Wednesday May 4th
TIME: 7:10PM EST
LOCATION: Niagara Falls NY
May the 4th be with you all. And yes, I did mean to write Jeremu. As in “Jeremoo”. I said what I said lol
So this is going to be a pretty quick one compared to the previous handful. We really didn’t do much in the Cleveland area. We got up later than planned, around 1 pm, the timezone change didn’t agree with us lol. Once we were up we went right over to Jeremy’s house to pick him up. I hadn’t seen Jeremy since camping last year so it was really nice to see him. We got to give him his anime gifts from Los Angeles which I think he liked, then we headed over to Cuyahoga Valley National Park.
So I knew basically nothing about this park before going there, only that it was close to Parma OH. I was however pleasantly surprised. We started as usual at the visitor’s center and got our normal Knick knacks. While we were there, there was a young couple who were trying to figure out the National Park Passports. I overheard their conversation and offered to show them my passport. It turns out they were also on a road trip, but just starting. I think they flew out to this side of the country then are driving home. They were from Spokane Washington. They were very nice and seemed to really like the passports. I showed them how it was filled out, what to look out for, how to find parks, etc. After we left they came and looked at our car stickers. I realized once I was in the car that I was doing the exact thing that my dad was doing while we were hiking with the flowers. I guess spreading the magic of the outdoors can be fun if Im not thinking about it lol. Like father like son.
We did 1 hike in the area known as the Ledges trail. This place’s claim to fame are these super cool shear cliffs made of Limestone. Our hike took us all around them. This was the newest park we had been to, only having been established in 2010. It wasn’t as grand as some of the parks we had been to previously but it was still really cool. We were walking down in the rocks themselves and managed to find some secret areas we could slip into. Really cool. The hike ended with a nice overlook of the area. The forest there really reminded me of back home. It really felt like my backyard. After the hike we got some new pizza which was absolutely amazing and just hung out for the rest of the evening.
The second day we spent most of relaxing in the hotel and getting caught up on things, around 6pm we went to go see the new Sonic movie all together. It was pretty cool cause I got to see the first Sonic movie with Jeremy back in college. So it was nice to see the second with him also. It was a really great movie. Jim is a national treasure. If you go see it, dont forget the post credit scene. After the movie we went and had dinner at Olive Garden. Deniz order a drink that mysteriously came with an almond shot. There was no mention of this shot in the description but the image showed it being poured into the main drink. Deniz being Deniz just downed the shot in one go. That had us cackling. When the waitress came back he asked for another, then immediately downed the second. It was a good time to catch up with Jeremy. We brought Jeremy back to his house after dinner and said our goodbyes. I hope to see him again soon.
Today we drove up to Niagara Falls and are in the hotel. We went to rainforest cafe for dinner. Thats about it lol. Tomorrow we cross into Canada for the day to visit the neighboring town. Very excited!
That’s all for now, stay safe everybody
